WMU-Japan Speaker Series
The WMU Soga Japan Center seeks to establish a speaker series to expand knowledge of Japan as follows.
- Distinguished Alumni Speaker Series, in which an alumnus is invited annually to make a presentation on campus on his or her career, Japan-U.S. Relations, or other designated topics.
- Visiting Speaker Series, in which an invited guest, usually an academic expert on Japanese culture or Japan-U.S. relations, makes a presentation on the WMU campus each semester.
- WMU Faculty Speaker Series, in which a WMU faculty member in Japanese studies makes a presentation on campus each semester.
- A WMU in Japan Speaker Series, in which a designated WMU faculty member will annually travel to Japan to make a presentation to the many WMU alumni residing in Japan.

曽我日本センターは日本研究の知识を深めるため、下记のような讲演会やセミナーを企画し、実施しています。
- ウェスタン?ミシガン大学の卒业生讲演会：卒业生に各人の活跃している分野で话をしていただきます。
- 外部の研究者による讲演会：日本研究に精通した学者をキャンパスに招きます。
- ウェスタン?ミシガン大学教员による讲演会：各教员の専门分野についてのセミナーです。
- ウェスタン?ミシガン大学教员による日本での讲演会：ウェスタン?ミシガン大学教员による出张讲义です。
Faculty Research Travel Fund
The Soga Japan Center plans to create an endowment to support research travel for WMU Japanese studies faculty. In addition to creating travel resources for faculty, one campuswide award would be made for a deserving student to conduct research.

Cultural Events and Film Series Endowment
An endowment is needed to create an ongoing resource for Japanese cultural events on the WMU campus. The Cultural Events and Film Series Endowment will annually bring a Japanese visiting artist to campus for a musical performance, art exhibit or other cultural event. Similarly, a Japanese Studies Film Series would support two films per semester for the enrichment of the West Michigan community.

Soga Center Support Fund
The Soga Japan Center wishes to create an endowment to support its long-term viability and staffing needs. Funding is needed to support the academic and travel endeavors of the center director, and to create a graduate assistant position, with the GA serving as administrative staff for the center.

Cultural Exchange Support Fund
An endowment is needed to support study abroad programs in Japan. Sustainable funds are being sought to support short-term study abroad programs, such as summer programs that are a few weeks in length, as well as long-term study aboard experiences lasting six months to one year.
文化交流促進 基金
ウェスタン?ミシガン大学生の日本への留学を支援するための基金です。通年のプログラムと数週间の日本での短期集中プログラムがあり、それらを受讲する学生への财政的な支援が必要とされています。
Endowed Chair in Japanese Studies
A named endowed chair in Japanese studies will enable WMU to honor or recruit an outstanding tenure-track faculty member who has demonstrated exceptional contributions to his/her discipline within Japanese studies. The endowed chair will serve as the director of the Soga Japan Center and be charged with building the WMU Japanese studies program.
日本研究 冠講座
日本研究の冠讲座を立ち上げる意义は、大学が日本研究に秀でた学者を雇用することのみに留まりません。冠讲座を任された教员が、曽我日本センターの所长としてウェスタン?ミシガン大学ならびに近隣コミュニティーにおいて日本学を深める活动に寄与することも期待されます。
